Is This Noah’s Ark? Researchers Reveal Excavation Plans for Biblical Ship Site

Archaeologists who believe they have uncovered the final resting place of Noah’s Ark have announced their plans to excavate the site.

The groundbreaking discovery in Turkey has reignited debates over the existence of the biblical vessel, which, according to the Bible, saved pairs of every animal species during a catastrophic flood sent by God.

The Durupinar formation, a 538-foot geological structure in eastern Turkey, has long been a focal point for researchers attempting to prove the Ark’s existence.

Recent findings—including 5000-year-old rock and soil samples containing clay-like materials, marine deposits, and seafood remnants—have strengthened their case. Among these remnants were molluscs, fitting the narrative of a massive flood.

“Over the next few years, our Turkish university partners will conduct non-destructive tests like soil sampling, radar scans, and other methods to determine if the structures we’ve detected are truly man-made or simply natural formations. Only after we gather enough evidence and have a proper preservation plan in place will we consider excavating.”

Before digging begins, extensive preparation is required, including geophysical surveys, core drilling, and meticulous planning. Previous studies have already provided compelling clues. Soil analysis revealed a lower pH, higher organic matter, and elevated potassium levels inside the ‘ark structure’—traits researchers say are “consistent with rotting wood.”

Additionally, ground-penetrating radar scans conducted in 2019 detected rectangular shapes beneath the surface, further fueling speculation of a man-made vessel. While skeptics argue that the formation could be natural, the mounting evidence suggests something extraordinary may lie buried.

If excavations proceed as planned, humanity may finally uncover the truth behind one of history’s greatest mysteries—whether Noah’s Ark was real or merely a legend.
