What happened with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 after it departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8th, 2014, continues to be one of aviation’s most famous unsolved cases.
The aircraft was en route to Beijing Capital International Airport in China, but after several unexplained course deviations and the apparent intentional disabling of its transponder, it vanished along with all passengers and crew, leaving no trace and never resurfacing.

Subscribe to the NewsletterIn the aftermath, a global search and rescue mission was launched, one of the largest in history, with teams from numerous countries scouring vast stretches of the ocean for any sign of the missing plane. To this day, there is no conclusive answer to what happened.
However, Australian researcher Vincent Lyne has proposed a new theory that might shed light on the plane’s fate and why it has never been found. He contends that the disappearance of MH370 was orchestrated by “a mastermind pilot almost executing an incredible, perfect disappearance in the southern Indian Ocean.”
Lyne specifically suggests that the pilot, 53-year-old Zaharie Ahmad Shah, intentionally crashed the aircraft in a precise location in the ocean where he knew it would remain undiscovered.
This site—a 20,000-foot-deep depression in the seafloor surrounded by high ridges—might be the prime area to search for evidence of the plane’s wreckage.
This theory is not the first to suggest that the pilot may have deliberately crashed the aircraft, though the motive remains unclear.
“Whether [the sea hole] will be searched or not is up to officials and search companies, but as far as science is concerned, we know why the previous searches failed and likewise science unmistakably points to where MH370 lies,” Lyne said.
