Ufologists have quickly labeled this discovery as a classic example of a UFO, arguing that the object’s shape resembles a disk-shaped spacecraft that may have crashed.
The impact site is located in a region known as Elysian Planitia, the second-largest volcanic region on Mars after Tharsis, spanning 1,700 by 2,400 kilometers.
While NASA has not yet issued any official statements regarding the nature of the object, many enthusiasts believe this could be one of the most compelling pieces of evidence pointing to the potential existence of extraterrestrial life within our solar system.
The HiRISE camera aboard the MRO specializes in capturing detailed images of the Martian surface. Over the years, the HiRISE camera has documented numerous instances of objects colliding with the planet’s surface.
