These intriguing occurrences, often referred to as UFOs, have now garnered fresh attention from the government, and experts are pushing for further investigation, reports indiatimes.com.
The incidents, totaling 1,923 reports, have been cataloged by the National UFO Reporting Center, sparking a renewed interest in these unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).
Witnesses describe a variety of shapes and characteristics, including circles, ovals, triangles, and diamonds, as well as lights, orbs, flashes, disks, and fireballs.
One remarkable report from Pasadena, Maryland, detailed the sighting of “spinning disks” of various colors beneath an unidentified object. Another account from Cockeysville, Maryland, described a “chevron-like craft” with faint circular lights on both wings.
A photograph taken in Rockville, Maryland, showed a “flying saucer looking thing” that disappeared shortly after being captured on camera.
Peter Davenport, the Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, expressed his optimism about the increasing number of people coming forward with their sightings.
He also welcomed the government’s acknowledgment of the phenomenon, stating, “I don’t know what the future has in store for us, but I am encouraged that more people are coming forward, and the government recognizes the UFO phenomenon as something worthy of their attention.”
The UAP issue gained momentum earlier this year when Congress held oversight hearings to discuss these mysterious sightings, which have now been rebranded as “unidentified aerial or anomalous phenomena.”
Videos released in recent years depict objects moving at astonishing speeds through the air without any apparent propulsion, leaving experts puzzled.
With 1,923 reports originating from Maryland alone, experts continue to debate whether these UAPs have an extraterrestrial origin.
However, there is a consensus that there should be no stigma attached to reporting such sightings. Greg Facelo of Port Deposit described a recent sighting in Cecil County as “made by some intelligent life form” and noted that it was unlike anything he had ever seen before.
In response to the growing interest in UAPs, NASA has called for better data and more comprehensive study of these phenomena. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson acknowledged the vastness of the universe and expressed a personal belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life.
Concerns have also been raised about the potential risks posed by UAPs to military and commercial aircraft. Some speculate that these mysterious sightings could be part of surveillance efforts by foreign nations like China or Russia.
While the question of what exactly is flying over Maryland remains unanswered, the spotlight on UAPs has intensified, and researchers from NASA and other government agencies hope to unravel some of the mysteries in the sky.
As the investigation continues, residents remain captivated by the unknown and the possibility of life beyond Earth.
