Americans’ Views on UFOs Shift After Congressional Hearings

A new poll conducted by the Pew Research Center found that Americans’ views on unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have shifted in the wake of recent congressional hearings on the topic.

The poll, which was conducted in June 2023, found that 53% of Americans now believe that UFOs are likely extraterrestrial in origin, up from 33% in 2020. The poll also found that 72% of Americans believe that the government should do more to investigate UFOs.

The shift in public opinion comes after a series of high-profile UFO sightings in recent years, including one that was captured on video by Navy pilots in 2004. In 2021, the Pentagon released three videos of UFOs that had been previously classified.

The congressional hearings on UFOs in May 2023 further fueled public interest in the topic. During the hearings, government officials acknowledged that there is a lot that we don’t know about UFOs, but they also said that there is no evidence that they pose a threat to national security.

The poll results suggest that the American public is increasingly open to the possibility that UFOs are extraterrestrial in origin. This is a significant shift from just a few years ago, when most people dismissed UFO sightings as either hoaxes or misidentifications of natural phenomena.

The increased interest in UFOs is likely due to a number of factors, including the availability of better technology for recording UFO sightings, the growing number of high-profile UFO sightings, and the willingness of government officials to acknowledge that UFOs are a real phenomenon.

It remains to be seen whether the recent shift in public opinion will lead to any concrete action by the government to investigate UFOs. However, the poll results suggest that there is a growing demand for the government to take the issue of UFOs more seriously.
