Algorithm predicted the death of human civilization by 2050

The computer program World One, created at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, predicted the death of human civilization by 2050, reports the Daily Star.

World One was created in 1973 by the scientist Jay Forrester by order of the Club of Rome, an international public organization that studies the global problems of the Earth.

This algorithm used statistical data and analyzed a range of factors such as birth rates and environmental pollution, the amount of natural resources, and the quality of life to predict the future of mankind, starting in 1900.

The program analyzed development trends and came to the conclusion that approximately from 2040 to 2050, civilized life on Earth will cease to exist, at least in the form in which we know it now.

It should be borne in mind that World One used data obtained back in the last century, and a lot could have changed since then.

The first critical point, one might say, the beginning of the end, was 2020. According to World One forecast, during this period, the quality of life on the planet should fall sharply, and mortality will rise sharply. Coincidence or not, but it was in 2020 that the peak of the coronavirus pandemic occurred.

“Pollution becomes so serious it will start to kill people, which in turn will cause the population to diminish, lower than it was in the 1900.”

According to a World One report, switching to cleaner modes of transport and reducing the birth rate will not dramatically improve the situation and prevent mass deaths in the future.

The Big Think publication notes that the former leader of the Club of Rome, Alexander King, interpreted the program’s forecast in such a way that a new global order will be established in the world. Many states may lose their independence, and large corporations will seize control of all processes.

According to the Daily Star, World One’s prediction is confirmed by Astronomer Royal Martin Rees, one of Britain’s most prominent astrophysicists.

According to his forecast, humanity is in for a very bleak future due to critical climate change and excessive dependence on technology.

At the same time, Martin Rees does not consider civilization completely doomed to extinction – if people can overcome the most dangerous problems, they will be able to live on Earth for a very long time, albeit not in the best conditions.
